Well, we certainly experienced some better weather this month as July became the hottest on record! It’s certainly been a scorcher for us as we got to celebrate some fantastic achievements with our community partners which included the Abbeymead Rovers Seniors Presentation Evening, Abbeymead Rovers Presentation Day which followed on from the tournament on 08 and 09 June and the presentation of a cheque to the Hollie Gazzard Trust for funds we have raised so far.
On 12 July we joined the Abbeymead Rovers Walking Football team for a curry and to present their end of season awards. It was a fantastic evening with a very friendly group of people we really enjoyed getting to know better. We were humbled to present the Kirby & Knott Walking Footballer of the Year trophy to Kevin Hapeshi. We were also surprised and extremely honoured to be presented with a Best Newcomer Award by the club.
We spent 13 July at Abbeymead Rovers Presentation Day – it started with a very insightful video of the club and was a fantastic way to chart both its history and achievements over the years. Well deserved awards were presented to members of the committee who put a great deal of time and effort in to making the club a huge success. This was followed by Alex and Richard joining the club chairman, Paul Mason, to present the awards to all of the young players who took part in the tournament including Richard and Catherine’s son, Henry! We saw some very impressive skills during the tournament and it was lovely for both the club, players and their parents to celebrate their success in style.
It was lovely to visit Nick Gazzard and the team at their office in Tewkesbury. We were very proud to present Nick with a cheque for £402.07 – these funds will support the running costs of the Hollie Guard App for two weeks. We would like to thank everyone that has supported our fund raising efforts for this very worthy cause.
